During this time the convention has expanded from a comic books-only focus to include other mediums like TV, film, and games. And the presence of LGBT people, once relegated to that single panel, has exploded to a point where every day offers a variety of queer content and the breadth of topics continues to grow. Here are some of the best things about 2016, Comic-Con’s queerest year yet.

The series, which follows a group of young friends, takes on day-to-day life and shines a lighthearted light on issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Some issues featured are related specifically to being in the LGBTQ+ community, like homophobia. Another strip shows a silly tug-of-war over the radio during a car trip, as one friend fights to listen to Sir Mix-a-Lot, while another passenger keeps switching it to a podcast.

A man who has made videos on YouTube for more than ten years has decided to switch up his schedule. Michael Buckley, who emerged as one of YouTube’s first stars in the mid-2000s, has announced a number of changes to his channel. Most significantly, he will no longer air new episodes of his signature program, What The Buck Show.

By providing his viewers with a decade of celebrity gossip, pop culture commentary, and LGBT advocacy, Buckley attracted more than 1 million subscribers to his primary YouTube channel. In recent years, however, the format employed by What The Buck (which is filmed in simple fashion in front of a green screen) became increasingly outdated. At the same time, Buckley’s own interests began to change. “I’m just not as into pop culture as I used to be,” said Buckley in a video titled ‘The End.’ “I’m 41 years old. The jig is kinda up.”
